Indian Patent number 275595 titled “METHOD FOR STORAGE AND/OR TRANSPORT OF BISPHENOLACETONE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AROMATIC POLYCARBONATE“ has been granted by the Indian Patent Office to  SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ B.V. for Indian patent application number 194/DELNP/2010 filed on 14/07/2008 before the Indian Patent Office. The granted patent in India was published in journal on 16th September,2016

The granted patent relates to a method for producing aromatic polycarbonate, including the steps of : (1) transporting a liquid mixture of acetone and bisphenolacetone to a polycarbonate production plant; (2) separating the bisphenolacetone from the acetone; (3) reacting the bisphenolacetone with diphenylcarbonate to produce polycarbonate. Further, the invention relates to a method for storage and/or transport of bisphenolacetone for use in producing aromatic polycarbonate, which involves the addition of such amount of acetone to bisphenolacetone that the molar ratio of acetone to bisphenolacetone in the final liquid mixture to be stored and/or transported is in the range of from 0.5:1 to 15:1. The patent has been published under section 43(2) of the Indian Patent Act. Any person interested can oppose the patent under Section 25(2) within one year from the date of grant of patent.
